the way forward In an effort to reduce financial strain on the Athletic Department and the District as a whole, MPC is embarking upon a plan to reduce operational expenses by as much as 25%. On November 12th, the Director of Operations issued an Executive Order listing a series of directives to be enacted to reduce expenses, raise additional funds, and maximize the use of equipment without affecting the Crew's performance and service to the community in any way. Included in the list was a hiring freeze for the Spring 2009 season and additional training and proficiency requirements for current employees. "It is not something we want to do, but the way forward must be cheaper," said Director of Operations Ted Brown, "I am confident we can find ways to do more with less while not compromising our level of service." Director of Internal Affairs and Comptroller Andy Richardson is putting together numerous proposals and budget projections which he and Brown will review in the months to come. "Efficiency is the key," says Richardson, "we plan to postpone equipment expenditures for several years and train employees to be more proactive, hopefully saving as much as 25%."
