care of biota

Welcome from the occupants of Room 23!

Did you take a look in the greenhouse as you came in?

Which is your favorite?  I'll bet it isn't a plant.......

This is where you will apply for the job of caring for biota in our classroom. We all know you have animal magnetism, but one person cannot do it all.

As part of your Honors Class, you may  care for a tank or a set of plants for a semester.  In order to be assigned what you will care for, you need to apply for the position of caretaker.  (Probably not your first job application!).   You will fill out your application form with your experience, and your demonstration of expertise on the topic.

You will need to do some research to find the information.  Some jobs are tougher than others, and will be the responsibility of more than one student.  Your job will basically be to keep the tank glass clean (eeuwww), and make sure the organisms are fed/watered.  I will go over this with you when you get the job.  I will do the messy jobs like changing filters, bedding and water, but you need to tell me when they need to be done, or it won't happen.  (You can take these over, too, but I don't expect you to...)  If any tank does not have a caretaker, a volunteer may be assigned.  Here are your options:

You will be graded on how well you do you job and if the life forms are "happy" and thriving.  Most cold blooded animals do not need daily feeding.  Non-aquarium animals must have constant water.
