COURSE
8th grade American History is a study of political, economic, social,
and foreign policy developments in U.S. History from 1763-1877.
The class will cover the causes and effects of the Am. Revolution,
the Constitution and Bill of Rights, the development of political
parties, the Federalist Era, Jeffersonian and Jacksonian Democracy,
Manifest Destiny, the States' Rights Development and Sectionalism,
Slavery, the Civil War, and Reconstruction.

METHOD
map work, time lines, historical ladders, group activities, role playing, lectures, discussions, homework, review packets, quizzes,
tests, and one research paper.

MATERIALS NEEDED FOR CLASS
-colored pencils (not markers) for maps and class work
-Red spiral notebook for class notes
-Red folder for homework, handouts, maps
-loose leaf paper for homework
-keep textbook covered and kept at home
(a text will be provided for class work
-pen (black or blue) or pencil , will need a #2 pencil for tests.


CLASS PROCEDURE
-enter classroom before the bell rings
-sit in assigned seat
-copy homework in plan book
-read board for instructions
-take out materials for that day
-sit quietly and listen for directions-
EXPECTATIONS
-respect fellow classmates
-come to class prepared with materials and assignments
-do your own work
-follow directions
-stay on task during class time
-be present for all announced quizzes and tests
-always do your best
-follow all  school clothes
