Races
October 18
Voice-of-America Park
The CHL cross country teams traveled to West Chester for the
district championships. The ladies from Taylor looked to repeat their first
place finish in D2 from 2002. They won the race over McNicholas by a 33 to 49
score led by Emily Thompson in first and Carrie Crofford in fourth. Wyoming's
girls also qualified for the regional race with their third place finish. Sarah
Amburgey helped the Cowboys with a very strong race coming in sixth.
Madeira won the D3 district with good races from Lauren Justice (2nd) and
Brittany Barret (6th). Reading held off CHCA 75 - 78 for the runner-up trophy
and moved on to Troy. It was a very good day for the CHL girls teams.

Emily Thompson runs for the title.
Taylor girls win second district title.
On the boys side, Mark Miller and Lucas Nebert waged an epic battle for
D2 supremacy. This one went down to the wire with Miller holding off Nebert for
the title by less than a second. They were followed by Wyoming's Harold Jones in
third place and Joe McArthur from Taylor taking fourth. Mariemont's ace Dan
Austin and Wyoming's Ian Smith helped the CHL take six out of the top ten spots
this year. Wyoming avenged a tough defeat at the CHL championship by taking
Taylor 60 to 62 for the team title. Indian Hill's guys just missed moving on to
regional finishing two points behind fifth place CNE. Austin and teammate Thomas
Kaufmann will represent Mariemont next week at Troy.
In D3, Madeira just missed qualifying as a team by two points but Josh Dooley
and John Minter came in fifth and sixth and will run at the regional race as
individuals.

Mark Miller catches Lucas Nebert for the individual championship.
Taylor's Kyle Crofford and Wyoming's Jeff Howell.
