Dear

Parents,
The Board of Education approved calendars for the 2010-11 and
2011-12 school years at their November meeting. These calendars
reflect the feedback gathered from the online survey that was
sent to all parents and staff members.
The survey clearly indicated that parents and staff
members prefer starting the school year later in August and
extending the year into the first week of June.
Both calendars reflect this preference. The survey also
showed a clear preference for two full calendar weeks for the
winter break in December.
Both calendars reflect this preference.
The preferences for Spring Break were mixed.
The first choice was to schedule spring break for the
week after Easter and the second choice was to schedule spring
break after the conclusion of third quarter.
Due the later dates of Easter in 2011 and 2012, we have
selected the second choice on the survey, scheduling spring
break at the end of third quarter.
Two years ago the state moved mandatory spring testing
from March to April and scheduling spring break for the week
after Easter in 2011 or 2012 would conflict with preparations
for those important assessments.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the survey.
Please feel free to call or email with any questions
regarding our school calendars.
