Overview
The Mariemont City Schools District high school Special Education Program provides special educational alternatives and options to students identified as developmentally handicapped. The high school Developmentally Handicapped (DH IV) unit serves students usually of ages 15-21. Students are provided opportunities to develop their cognitive, academic, motor, language, social, occupational and daily living skills to the best of his/her ability.
It is the Mariemont School district's mission to prepare special education students to become problem-solvers, capable of making appropriate decisions, and to become productive members of society via training and employment at school and within the community.

To comply with the federal special education and state of Ohio rules and regulations, a multi-disciplinary team which includes the parents and student, design, for each student, an Individual Educational Plan (IEP).
The high school Special Education DH class provides services from least restrictive to most restrictive meaning special education students can be served in a self-contained DH classroom and/or in regular education classes. Support staff assist special education student in regular education classes as deemed necessary.
Most admirable about the high school DH unit is the dedicated and most qualified special education and regular education staff and how well the entire staff work together to meet the individual needs of each student.
