7th GRADE COURSES

*8th grade studies-This class is offered to students who are in need of some extra support with organization of materials and reading /writing skills.  This takes the place of Latin or study hall.

*There are three levels in math: foundations, college prep, and honors, and two levels in language arts:  college prep and honors.  Placement decisions are based on classroom performance, standardized test scores, and teacher/ parent input.

*8th grade students receive high school credit for Algebra I, Geometry, and Latin I.  The grades in the Honors Algebra I and Geometry Honors are weighted. 

 

WHAT TIME DO I START SCHOOL? WHAT TIME DOES SCHOOL END?

School begins at 7:40 a.m. and ends at 2:48 p.m.  Students have 9 classes (including lunch) each day approximately 45 minutes in length, with 4 minutes between each class.

*ALL JUNIOR HIGH STUDENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO COMPLETE 5 HOURS OF COMMUNITY SERVICE  EACH YEAR.  THERE ARE OPPORTUNITIES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR TO GET INVOLVED OR STUDENTS CAN DO SOMETHING ON THEIR OWN.  PARENTS SHOULD FILL OUT COMMUNITY SERVICE SHEETS FOUND IN THE OFFICE, SIGN, AND SUBMIT TO MRS. PARR.
