A.P. EUROPEAN HISTORY
This course is designed for the student who
is very strong in history/social studies and wants a very challenging
course in modern European history. This course is designed to be a college-level
survey course covering European history from the Renaissance era through
today. The prospective student needs to be strongly motivated, an
independent thinker and a self-starter. The student's reading and writing
abilities need to be very strong. Prospective students must be recommended
for the course by their freshman social studies teacher. In May,
the student will be able to take a national test that may
qualify them for college credit.
While there is nothing REQUIRED in the way of summer work for this course this is a good time to preview the
topics you will be learning about next school year. One of the best ways to do this is to "surf" throughout the website
www.besthistorysites.net. A.P. Euro will begin with
the time period of
the Renaissance and move forward chronologically from there. This website is linked to every good
history website I'm aware of. So everything you'll need for this class can be accessed through this single website.
Additionally, the individual websites are "ranked" with stars (5 ***** = the best sites). I have generally
found that anything ranked 3 *** or higher is pretty good. Have fun
"surfing!
If you feel your current understanding of history isn't as strong as you'd like it to be or you'd like to "brush up" on information we'll be covering next year, you might want to visit the following website and watch some history films prior to the start of next school year: www.unitedstreaming.com (Username=marie.mariehs Password=hcesc) Films for A.P European History include the following:
