Report
The
Mariemont City School District is 128 years old as of
Saturday, April 14, 2007. Official records indicate that
on Monday, April 14, 1879, “Pursuant to a call a meeting
was held of the qualified voters of the Independent
School District No. 7, Columbia Township, Hamilton
County,
Ohio, for the purpose of deciding three directors.” The
Independent School District No. 7 did, in time, become
the Plainville School District, which has evolved into
the Mariemont City School District.
District Size
The Mariemont City
School District includes three independent, incorporated
villages: Fairfax, Mariemont and Terrace Park, as well
as the unincorporated areas of Columbia Township and the
land on both sides of US 50 between Plainville and
Terrace Park. The school district extends south of US
50 to the north bank of the Little Miami River and north
of US 50 for approximately one-half mile.
Student Enrollment
During the 2006-07
school year, a total of 1,645 students were enrolled in
kindergarten through the twelfth grade in the Mariemont
City school district. Additionally, the district
served 43 students in preschool programs.
Of these 1,688 total students, 881 were boys and 807
were girls. 2.9% were African-American, .1% American
Indian, 1.1% Asian, .6% Hispanic, 1.7% multiracial, and
93.6% Caucasian. Approximately 12 of these students
elected to attend either the Live Oaks or the Scarlet
Oaks campus of the Great Oaks Institute of Technical and
Career Development.
Staff
The school district
employed 199 employees including certified and
classified staff. The district had one full-time
librarian, four full-time counselors, two school
psychologists, one part-time director of programs and
one part-time pupil personnel director. There were three
elementary principals, one junior high principal, one
high school principal,one assistant high school
principal and one athletic director. General
administration consisted of the superintendent and
treasurer. The Mariemont City School District average
teacher salary for the school year 05-06 amounted to
$58,609 exclusive of fringe benefits. The Mariemont
City School District does not discriminate on the basis
of race, gender, age or disability.
No Child Left Behind
The Mariemont City
School District is in compliance with the No Child Left
Behind requirement to have a plan for keeping schools
safe and drug-free that includes appropriate and
effective discipline policies, security procedures,
prevention activities, a student code of conduct, and a
crisis management plan for responding to violent or
traumatic incidents on school grounds. |
