First Grade: We will focus on basic rhythms, steady beat, essentials of music, and a small part on the staff. We will sing, dance, and play instruments. They will also be performing in the annual Holiday Concert.

Second Grade: We will focus on basic rhythms as well as some intermediate rhythms, the staff, treble clef lines and spaces, reading music, and the essentials of music. We will sing, dance, and play instruments. They will also be performing in  the Holiday Concert.

Third Grade: We will focus on rhythms, the parts of music, the staff, reading and writing music, playing recorders, and performing. They will perform in the Holiday Concert in addition to a Spring Play.

Fourth Grade: We will focus on rhythms, reading and writing music, performing, the parts of music, review the staff, and playing the recorder. Fourth grade will perform in the Holiday Concert as well as the Spring Play with third grade.

Fifth and Sixth Grade: During these two years music is split into three choices. Each student may choose between playing a string instrument, a band instrument or general music. I will be instructing the general music class. This class is unusual in the fact that the curriculum is not set in stone. We may play guitars. We may play new instruments that are not currently a part of my collection. We may do individual and/or group projects. I will gear this class toward experiencing and exploring music through new and exciting ways. Depending on which class is chosen will depend on their performance schedule. Everyone in some way will perform in  the Holiday Concert and the sixth grade will participate in the annual sixth grade play.
