District Athletic Director Receives Award for Dedication to Athletics

District Athletic Director Receives Award for Dedication to Athletics

Mariemont City School District Athletic Director Tom Nerl recently received the Southwest Ohio Athletic Directors Association Citation Award, in recognition of the exceptional time, effort and energy he has devoted to the organization and to high school athletics.

Each year, SWOADA recognizes and honors individuals within the association for their dedication to the student athletes, schools and communities they serve. This year, 11 athletic directors received awards. Tom Nerl was also nominated for state and national recognition in this category, and that decision will be made in the fall at the Ohio Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association’s state conference.

“This award is for someone that has gone beyond the call of duty and has spent an enormous amount of time and effort to help grow the organization. Tom Nerl has been a big advocate to all athletic directors and has helped grow the membership to record numbers,” said Doug Foote, Southwest District Athletic board member and athletic director and dean of students at New Richmond High School. “Tom has served on numerous committees on the local, state and national levels, which have helped bring recognition to our district. Tom has been the go-to athletic director for a lot of us and has always been willing to take time out of a very busy schedule to help anyone.”

Mr. Nerl was nominated by another athletic director in the Southwest Ohio Athletic Directors Association and then was voted as the recipient of this award by the other members of the association.
