January 5 Report

Baby, it's cold outside!  Brrr!  The chill of the second week of Christmas break has rolled right over to the new year, and it is downright cold outside.  But we're playing inside, and the excitement of the crowd and the games will keep you warm.  We hope you'll join us for some exciting action with our winter teams.

The boys basketball teams (JV and Varsity) split a pair of games in the Ripley Holiday Classic, and returned home this week to defeat Clermont Northeastern. With a 5-4 record, the Warriors are 10th in the Enquirer Coaches Poll this week. The Warriors travel to Taylor to face the Yellow Jackets today at 430, 6, and 730, and return home tomorrow to face Norwood at 4, 530, and 7pm.  The Warriors host Wyoming in CHL action on Tuesday at 430, 6, and 730, and remain home next Friday for the Deer Park Wildcats at 6 and 730.

The Lady Warriors were last in action before the break when the defeated the Reading Blue Devils before defeating Taylor on Wednesday,  and return to action tomorrow against the Batavia Bulldogs at home at noon and 1:30.  The lady Warriors travel to Wyoming on Wedneday for league play at 6 and 730, and host Deer Park next Saturday at noon and 1:30.  The 7-1 Mariemont squad stands in the 4th slot in the Enquirer Coaches poll this week.

Your Aqua Warriors enjoyed a long nreak with no competitions, and returned to action yesterday against Summit Country Day.  The boys team is ranked 5th in the Enquirer poll and the girls are ranked 2nd.  Ian Mikesell and Jackson Comer are ranked in the top of multipe events in the CHL, and on the girls side, Cora Dupre, Lainey Newman, Kate Overbey, and Brtooke Woellert are near the top of multiple events in the CHL.  Kyleigh Spang, Nathan Cox, and jacob Cox are among the league leaders with scores at 200 or better.  The swimmers have their Blue/Gold meet and Alumni races on Saturday, before competing in the SW Ohio Classic next week.

The bowlers return to the lanes next week with Summit on Monday, and Seven Hills on Wednesday, bot at Madison Bowl at 330.  The Warriors are still seeking their firls program win, and Dylan Buerger cracks the stat page in the CHL with a 182 average.

The Warrior Sports Stag returns to the 20th Century on Thursday, February 8th, featuring former Bengals lineman and current radio commentator Dave Lapham.  Lap will be joined by WLW talk host Chick Ludwig.  Tickets start at $100, and more information is available from AD Tom Nerl at

Just a note on the inclement weather that accoompanies the winter season.  If school is closed, junior high games and practices are cancelled for that day.  On the high school level, game status will be determined by conditions during the day and if the opposing school is permitted to play.  Practice status will be determined by the weather conditions during the day.
