January 17th Update

The last of the four day weeks is upon us, so it's back to full work for a while.  The Warriors, however, never rest, regardless of the number of days in the weekend.  The past weekend was quite busy, and the upcoming week looks to be just as busy.

The varsity girls basketball team downed Madeira on Saturday 40-35 to stake their claim to the top spot in the CHL.  The 10-2 Lady Warriors are undefeated in league play and are ranked 4th in Cincinnati Division 2 after defeating Seton on Monday night.  The Lady Warriors travel to Taylor on Wednesday at 6 and 7:30 before hosting Indian Hill on Saturday at 12 and 1:30.

The varsity boys basketball team picked up a pair of wins over the weekend with a close game against Reading on Friday, and then a win at Norwood on Saturday.  The varsity and JV teams travel to Finneytown on Tuesday at 6 and 7:30, and host Madeira on Friday for Military Appreciation Night at 4:30/6/7:30.  The Warriors enter the week 11th in the Enquirer Coaches Poll.

The varsity wrestling team enjoyed the weekend off after defeating Purcell Marian on Thursday and falling to Madeira.  The Warriors travel to Ross this Saturday for tournament action.

The Swimming Warriors....wow!  What can you say?  The Water Warriors competed in the nation's largest high school swimming and diving event, The Southwest Ohio Classic, and simply excelled.  The girls team finished 3rd overall, behind Mason and Centerville, and ahead of St. Ursula and Ursuline.  There were many great swims, including the relays taking three events, with 400 Medley Relay which missed the Classic record by .7 of a second.  Cora Dupre broke multiple pool and school records and set the 4th fastest time in classic history in the 200 free.  Lainey Newman, Brooke Woellert, Kate Overby, and Cora set the pace in many events.  The girls enter the week at the top of the Enquirer Coaches Poll, as the boys enter the week 4th.  The teams host CHCA on Thursday at 4:30 and CCD on Saturday at 4:30 for Senior Day/Night.  Please join us!

The Sports Stag, featuring Sean Casey is right around the corner on February 2nd at the 20th Century Theater.  Contact Ad Tom Nerl at tnerl@mariemontschools.org for more informaion.
