The cast and crew of Mariemont High School’s production of The Sound of Music have earned a record 18 Cappies as announced by the Cappies of Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. The organization is a 100% student-driven awards process for local high school performances throughout the school year which culminates in The Cappies awards ceremony each May.
The cast were nominated for 11 awards including Best Musical, Lead Actress (Shannon Mathews), Lead Actor (Daniel Keyes), Featured Actress (Anna Eberlein), Featured Actor (Alex Wilson), Supporting Actress (Gabby Tollefsen), Comic Actress (Bailey Murphy), Comic Actor (Chris Wood), Female Vocalist (Molly Mysogland), Male Dancer (Jacob Cox) and Ensemble in a Musical (The Von Trapp Children).
The crew also received a pair of accolades including Marketing and Publicity (Daniel Keyes, Sydney Messner and crew) and Lighting (Avery Brinkman, Reagan Kaiser, Emery Shelley and Colton Urbanski).
Additionally, the Cappies critic team reeled in five nominations, including Critic Team, Male Critic (Daniel Keyes and Alex Wilson), Up and Coming Critic (Ellie Lewis) and Top Critique (Shannon Mathews).
The Sound of Music ran for three days in March and was reviewed by high school students from across Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.
