Sixteen Mariemont High School students have been selected as winners of the 2017-18 Scholastic Art and Writing Competition. Overall MHS students received 22 awards in the Gold Key, Silver Key and Honorable Mention categories.
Our of nearly 5,000 works submitted, 1,000 winning pieces of work are exhibited with Gold Key recipients advancing to compete for national medals in an exhibit that culminates with the National Awards Ceremony at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
For our high school students, receiving a Scholastic Award offers the opportunity for scholarships. At the regional level, seniors who receive awards have access to more than $3.5 million in scholarships from local institutions. At the national level, $10,000 scholarships are given to 16 graduating seniors whose portfolios earn gold medals. Students who earn silver medal with distinction honors receive $1,000 scholarships. Seniors who earn these honors can leverage partial to full-ride scholarships from a network of 60 arts universities and institutes, which annually earmark $5 million in additional support.
Congratulations to these students who will have their work on display at the Art Academy of Cincinnati from January 29th through February 9th. These students will be honored at an awards ceremony on Friday, Feb. 9 at the School for Creative and Performing Arts.
