The Mariemont Experience is about Tradition. The Mariemont City School District has a history of rich tradition, interwoven throughout the district’s nearly 140-year history. There are traditions of Halloween parades, pep rallies, Parent-Grandparent Day visits, flag-raising events, award-winning theatrical performances and of riding bikes to school. A timeless tradition at Mariemont City Schools is the extensive course and extracurricular offerings available to all students. Read the story of one student's involvement in school and other activities here. Individualized educational opportunities are abundant in the school district, throughout all grades. The district offers 15 Advanced Placement courses, in subjects ranging from Statistics to Studio Art to European History. There are also a half dozen dual enrollment courses available to students, enabling them to earn college credit while still in high school. District students consistently perform above both the state and the national average on both the SAT and the ACT tests, and each year students are named as National Merit Scholars. Read the story of one National Merit Scholar here.
Because we believe that a well-rounded education includes a variety of student-involvement opportunities, there are 24 junior high athletic teams, 13 junior high clubs, 39 high school athletic teams and 32 high school clubs open to each student. Mariemont High School graduates continue their education, attending colleges and universities such as Clemson University, Denison University, DePaul University, Harvard University, Loyola University, New York University, Ohio State University, University of Michigan, Savannah College of Art and Design, Vanderbilt University and Xavier University. In 2014, over $4 million of merit-based scholarship money was awarded to Mariemont High School seniors.
Many of the district alumni continue on to make a difference in the lives of many, as employees, volunteers, entrepreneurs and business and community leaders. The Distinguished Alumni Award recognizes Mariemont High School graduates who have notably distinguished themselves by their extraordinary contributions and/or remarkable accomplishments in their chosen career; skill, trade, or business; in civic duties; in military service; in philanthropy; in volunteerism; in the arts; in the sciences; in education; in religion, or any other field, endeavor, or pursuit, excluding athletics.
