It's About Innovation: Abby

Abby (Class of 2018)

Student involvement and input on the curriculum and future of education in important to the success of Mariemont City Schools. Abby is involved in nearly every aspect of technology in the school district. She has created digital animation in Digital Arts class, where she uses programs such as Adobe Flash and Photoshop to complete digital art with total creative freedom. In Language Arts she is doing a lot of presentation work, and the teacher is showing them how to create different presentations using videos and presentation apps. Abby has also produced a three-minute song with Garage Band in Music Video Production Class. Abby is also a member of the junior high student tech team, troubleshooting for her fellow students and for staff members.

Abby is also involved in a lot of extracurricular activities, such as soccer, diving, Climate Committee, Art Club and many other clubs. She has recently created an anti-bullying video for the School Climate Committee, focusing on the theme of “Don’t Stand By, Stand Up.” The video incorporates pictures and speeches, making it something that is more dynamic to watch.

“The exposure to technology I’m receiving now is giving me a 100% head start for high school and for college. Learning about technology and how to use it at a younger age is important because of the age that we’re entering and because of our future. It is no longer just pencil and paper.”
