Support Organizations and Volunteers are an Integral Part of our Work

To create the best experience for our students, I believe opportunities beyond the regular school day must be part of our larger academic program. Just looking at this year alone, we have added great opportunities such as after-school enrichment in the arts, music and world languages for elementary students, Expeditions at the junior high, global learning trips during the summer months, and so much more that we’re still developing, like the Master Class Series at the high school to be launched next year. The possibilities are endless.

And I recognize that we can’t do it alone and that support organizations and volunteers must be an integral part of our work if we’re going to create the kinds of experiences all of us want for our students. A sign of our strength in community is the great work and dedication of our many support groups like the Mariemont School Foundation, Arts Association, Athletic Boosters, Alumni Association, PTOs, and the local Kiwanis chapter. These groups provide the extras that our students need to be positioned for success.

Together, we are creating the experiences and opportunities our children need to develop important high-value skills to excel in the 21st century. As you may have heard me say before, as I quote the great educator John Dewey: “Our mission is to teach everything that anyone is interested in learning.”

This Saturday, March 5, the Foundation, Arts Association and Boosters will host the 6th annual FAB Affair. This event raises money that directly reinforces countless experiences we create for our students at Mariemont City Schools. This year, the event has an added air of intrigue – the location is a secret! If that leaves you, well, intrigued, there are still just a few tickets available, and I encourage you to attend this entertaining annual fundraising event.

I can confidently say our community’s children couldn’t be in a better place and with a more dedicated group of educators and volunteers to help them succeed in this very different world. Thank you to all of our support organizations and all of their members for their tremendous support of our students and teachers. It is what sets us apart!
