It's About Community: Nicholas
The Mariemont Experience is about sharing your time and talent with those around you, and this is something Nicholas does beautifully.
For Nicholas’s family, a major part of their community is their church. Nicholas volunteers through his church, plays music through and for his church, and spends a lot of time supporting his father, who is the pastor.
Nicholas decided to play the French horn because he “loves the sound” and, as the first student in years to play the instrument at his school, he received his first French horn from the PTO. Once he graduated from elementary school, he had to give the French horn back but was happy to do so because there are now a lot of kids who want to play the instrument. “I hope I inspired other kids to play the French horn.” His favorite thing about the French horn is “playing really technical stuff really fast.” Nicholas shares his talent by performing in concerts throughout the year in the Junior Cincinnati Youth Wind Ensemble at the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music. He also participates in the brass ensemble and music program at his church.
In his free time he likes to hang at the pool with his friends, ride his bike on the bike path that runs through their neighborhood and enjoy annual community events, like the parades. “I like that my community is safe and that there is so much within walking distance.”
